COMPATIBILITY: COMMUNICATION MANNERS

I started a topic ARE YOU COMPATIBLE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP/MARRIAGE? Read HERE We looked at the definition, some areas you should be compatible in and we talked about Intellectual, Emotional and Spiritual Compatibility. We will be looking at Communication manners! This is probably a difficult area to deal in a Relationship/Marriage. But I believe after sharing this we will learn and grow on how to communication. This is quite different from our usual understanding of communication.

What is Communication: is the act of transferring or exchanging information through verbal messages, written words or more subtle, or non verbal between two people in this context. This area has a lot to do with the person's Temperaments and Love Language. You must understand each other's pattern of listening and talking. if there is no feedback in communication, it means there was no communication in the first place.

Let's look at a visual way of communicating: people who communicate mostly visually prefer face to face conversation over using a written note or a phone. below are ways a visually oriented person communicates:

That looks like a sure thing, I see what you're driving at, That's really clear to me.

What you're picturing is...

Show me what you're getting at, it's beginning to dawn on me, That's a clear pattern to this.

You could response this way to a visually oriented person:

I'm beginning to see your point of view, That looks good to me, What you shared really enlightened me, I see what you mean. If your with a visually oriented person try to use the above pattern in your response. make a list of visual words like Sight, Clear, sparkles etc. If you are going to marry a visually Oriented person or your married to, you must adjust to their dominant manner of perception. Example if you want to make a change in the home you ask them how they will love it look.

Let's look at the auditory way of communicating: These set of people want to hear about life generally. they relate more to sounds than sight, they see their words in picture form. You have to talk more than show him what you mean. They tend to remember what you said than what you showed them and are very comfortable with long conversations. They understand feeling when its best verbalized. they are quick to pick tonal changes and voice inflections. 

Some auditory people feel compelled to fill their silent moments with music, talking, humming or with any kind of sound, while other prefer total silence. Words like I Love you a million times are very important to them, but how you say it is most important. Auditory person doesn't like a question kind of communication, but a suggestive one, Question: Would you like to see a movie, rather ask How about we see a movies?

Let's look at the emotional way of communicating: These category of people usually don't verbalize their feeling but show it and want to feel it too. You can read when they are happy, sad, angry, loved, delightful etc on their facial expression or their in their voice. And are very concern about other people's feelings towards them. You can easily spot an emotional oriented person when you hear: I like to get close to you, that person is sensitive, I feel good today, I wan't happy yesterday. the use words like touchy, soft, smooth, etc.

Note the Visual person says its Looks, an Auditory person says it Sounds and an Emotional person says its Feels good to me. identify where you belong and help your partner see you in this area.
